The Cat is one of only two people outside of the big two to have his name on the silver trophy, although his last triumph was a lifetime ago, and he has little realistic expectation of challenging for the crown this time around, unless illness or injury scuppers both Taylor and Ronan. Despite becoming the Ultimate Superstars Champion in this year's charity tournament his body is sore and his mind numbed by weeks of childcare and housework.

His absolute minimum expectation is to improve on last year's second worst summer performance, but he will be determined to come first in golf for a record-breaking fourth-consecutive event win.
